Our Beginnings
The idea of See The Light Optometry initially sprouted in Dr. Kelly Kao’s mind back in 2011. By then, she had graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO), completed her residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at SUNY College of Optometry, and returned to the Bay Area to practice optometry.
Dr. Kao worked four different jobs as clinical faculty at UCBSO, a vision researcher at Google, an optometrist at a group practice, and an optometric missionary for a non-profit she founded. The organization seeks to serve the underprivileged around the world by providing healthcare, public health education, and catechesis.
Dr. Kao eventually left these jobs to focus on her non-profit full-time as a missionary. After three years, Dr. Kao finally felt it was time for her to also serve the people of the Silicon Valley and build up a rehabilitation practice.
Our Mission
We are here to provide exceptional and specialized eye care in an open and comfortable environment. We strive to help you experience the world through vision like never before. At See The Light Optometry, we are here to serve you like you are family.
Additionally, we promote goodness by sending our doctors on mission, providing pro bono services for those that cannot afford it, and mentoring the next generation of eye care professionals.
We are so delighted you chose us to care for your eyes and we hope that, together, we can work to spread good to all those we encounter.
